The Los Angeles Angels, despite the resurgence of Mike Trout and the dominance so far from Jose Soriano, are in last place in the AL West.
Selling by the trade deadline is a reality for this team once again. And if they do sell, there are a few players who could be on the move. The most likely of which was identified by Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report as Jorge Soler.
“… whereas Soler is a much more legitimate option. He was traded at both the 2021 and 2024 deadlines, and he’s hitting better this season than he did in the first few months of those campaigns,” Miller writes.
Soler is an obvious trade candidate for the Angels, being on a $13 million deal for just the 2026 season. But, while he’s an obvious trade candidate, there’s one landing spot that would be hilarious for a few reasons. That is obviously the Atlanta Braves.
Angels could trade Jorge Soler to Braves for hilarious deadline deal
Soler and the Braves have some interesting ties to one another. The main one is that Soler was a former player for the franchise, but there was a lot more he did than simply play for Atlanta.
The Angels slugger was actually the Braves’ World Series MVP during their title in 2021, as he hit .242 with a .948 OPS and three homers, including a clutch shot in the World Series during the Braves’ postseason run in 2021.

Soler was acquired in a trade twice by the Braves at the deadline, once in 2021 and another time in 2024. And there could be a third trade with Soler and the Braves this season.
But what would make this an even more hilarious trade would be that Soler was one of the leading actors in a rare mound-charging earlier this season with Braves pitcher Reynaldo Lopez.
This would be a fun move on paper for the Braves, and with the added context of his World Series MVP for the franchise, and the fight that occurred this season, the Angels’ most likely trade candidate has a hilarious landing spot.
