Junior Kroupi’s 13th goal of the season left Arsenal on the cusp of the Premier League title as Bournemouth held a 1-0 halftime lead against Manchester City.
City headed into the game on the back of reports breaking last night that manager Pep Guardiola will step down at the end of this season. They also knew nothing other than a win would take the title race into the final weekend.
Antoine Semenyo had the ball in the net against his former club but strayed offside on the end of Erling Haaland’s throughball.
Bournemouth looked the fresher team and their greater attacking cohesion was rewarded when Kroupi took a smooth first touch from Adrien Truffert’s cutback before curling a glorious strike beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Bournemouth vs. Man City live updates, highlights, and commentary
71 mins: Doku ends up running it out of play under pressure from Rayan. It’s starting to look like the game is up for Guardiola’s side.
70 mins; Doku looks to get a run on Smith, The full-back sticks to his task tenaciously. City corner.
63 mins: Rodri thrashes a shot way off target. That’s pretty forlorn stuff.
62 mins: Kroupu hooks against the post from the corner but the referee has spotted a foul.
61 mins: Lovely move from Bournemouth. Evanilson backheels and Kroupi fires over from the edge of the box. Those substitutions have had the immediate effect of robbing City of any fluency.
56 mins: And Phil Foden. Silva, Kovacic and Semenyo the men coming off. The Vitality Stadium rises to salute their old hero.
55 mins: Cherki and Savinho are getting ready to come on for City.
53 mins: Kovacic slides a pass through to Haaland, who sets in back to Rodri. His lofted ball to the far post for Doku is nice but the winger looks to touch it back to Silva when he really should have taken the shot on.
52 mins: Evanilson prods goalwards from Truffert’s ball into the box and Donnarumma turns behind. The corner doesn’t get beyond the near post.
46 mins: City’s best chance of the match as Semenyo and Haaland link well to play O’Reilly in. It’s a fine save from Petrovic but the youngster really didn’t get enough purchase on the shot.
Kickoff: 2nd Half
We’re back underway. No change for either side. It’s a surprise that Guardiola, who is instantly up on his feet barking instructions, has not made any changes
Halftime
Lots of work to do for Guardiola in his penultimate City team talk. They need to win to keep their title hopes alive and they’re 1-0 down to a fired up and Europe-bound Bournemouth.
41 mins: Drama straight from the restart. Kroupu could be in a gain but the offside flag goes up. Guehi has pulled up and might have hurt himself chasing.
39 mins: GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!! Junior Kroupi!!!!!
Glorious finish from Kroupi for his 13th Premier League goal of the season. Truffert goes bombing down the left and Kroupi curls his cutback magnificently beyond a rooted Donnarumma.
A HUGE goal for the title race!

33 mins: It’s a tight pitch here, but Semenyo should probably know better than running it out of play.
28 mins: Rodri gets up to meet a Silva corner, there’s some wrestling goal on in there and Haaland smashes a shot that is deflected behind.
22 mins: A really even, pulsating contest this. Bournemouth corner on the right. Inswinger that goes all the way through for O’Reilly to head clear. Rodri then deals with the second ball.
15 mins; Ohhh my that’s an appalling miss from Evanilson! The Brazilian striker lifts Tavernier’s cross over from six yards out. The offside flag goes up to spare his blushes. Nice Bournemouth move, though.
14 mins: Khusanov takes aim from distance. Not the best.
12 mins: GOOO… no! Haaland slide a pass through to Semenyo, who slams home but he strayed half a yard offside.
7 mins: “One more year, one more year Guardiola!” holler the City fans as Hill winds up a long throw that comes to nought.
5 mins: Semenyo gets to the byline on his old stomping ground and cuts back to Doku on the edge of the box. He doesn’t fully get hold of the shot, Petrovic tumbles to his left and saves.
3 mins: Rodri tries to slide Haaland through on goal but Hill reads it well. Lively start to this one.
2 mins: Tavenier launches a ball over the top lookig for Evanilson. O’Reilly manages to snuff out the danger. But here come the hosts again and Donnarumma has to hoof a backpass from Rodri into the stands.
Kickoff
City get us underway and funnel their first attack towards former Cherries favourite Semenyo.
5 mins before kickoff: Here come the teams. Bournemouth need a point to guarantee European football; City need a win to keep their title hopes alive. Fireworks at Dean Court! Woof!
25 mins before kickoff: Pep Guardiola has just conducted a pre-match interview with no discussion of his apparently imminent departure. That’ll happen afterwards, apparently. That was weird.
1 hour before kickoff: : One manager who has made no bones about the fact he’s leaving is Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. He makes one change for his first home match in charge, with USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams coming in as captain in place of Ryan Christie.
1 hr 15 mins before kickoff: The team news is in. City make two changes from the team that beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final. Gianluigi Donnarumma replaces James Trafford in goal as expected, while Mateo Kovacic comes in for Omar Marmoush. It’s some time for the experienced Croatia midfielder to make his first Premier League start of the season.
Pregame: What a 24 hours it’s been at City. Pep Guardiola is leaving — not that he’s confirmed it in public — and Arsenal’s win over Burnley means the title race will be over if today’s result is anything but a win for the visitors at the Vitality Stadium.
