There have been a couple of roster needs that the Los Angeles Chargers have needed to address this offseason.
One was the offensive line; the other was getting Justin Herbert some more weapons.
The offensive line, to an extent, has been upgraded, but Herbert’s weapons remain the same. Will the Chargers look to add to the mix over the coming months?
If they are, NFL.com’s Matt Okada has one player the franchise should be looking at — Deebo Samuel.
“How about a cross-country trip to join Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston in Los Angeles? Samuel would be a versatile offensive weapon for Justin Herbert and Co. The most productive season of Samuel’s career, by far, came with the 49ers in 2021,” Okada wrote.
“The offensive coordinator in San Fran that season? Mike McDaniel … under the tutelage of Kyle Shanahan, of course. McDaniel’s now the man in L.A. This reunion could be electric — pun intended — for both Samuel and the Bolts.”

Deebo ideal for L.A.?
Given how McDaniel likes his offense to play, Deebo, who has already had superb success in the NFL, could be a nice fit in L.A.
With the offensive line getting Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt back, plus the addition of Tyler Biadasz and Ladd McConkey as Herbert’s other weapon, Samuel in that offense could be nightmare fuel.
As a receiver, Samuel still posted 727 yards and 5 TDs for Washington last season, so he’s still productive, and in McDaniel’s scheme as both a receiver and runner? Herbert could finally have a weapon he hasn’t had since entering the league.
Samuel will likely come at a discount, too. For me, this is a player the Chargers absolutely have to make a call on.
