Kansas City Chiefs fans stunned by unrecognizable Andy Reid pic

The photo looked harmless enough.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Instagram posted a photo Tuesday morning of the team’s top brass with the caption, “The boys are back together once again!”

Cue the comments — because in the photo, the third man in the crew looked unrecognizable due to a shocking facial transformation.

Coach Andy Reid was missing his signature mustache.

“Seriously didn’t recognize coach for a second!” wrote one Chiefs fan. “Where is Andy???” quipped another. “Please don’t let it be gone,” begged a third.

But the photo — of GM Brett Veach, owner, Clark Hunt, Reid, and president Mark Donovan — immediately had fans calling foul.

“Now this is an April Fools joke,” wrote one commenter of the April 1 post. Added another, “Got me there for a second.”

Finally, the team put the fans out of their misery: “APRIL FOOLS!!!”

Reid, 67, has not in fact shaved off his voluminous — and considered by many to be very lucky — mustache.

The photo, which turned out to be photoshopped, even fooled Hunt’s wife, Tavia, who texted Reid’s wife of more than 40 years, Tammy. “Not me texting Tammy—wait!! We were just together last night…what happened to the mustache??!! I bought it hook, line, & [sinker]. Well played.”

Some commenters didn’t hate the look. “Andy looking like a snack,” approved one. “Where is Big Red’s mustache? Looks good!!” wrote another.
