MLB live scores: Opening Day updates, results, highlights from 2025 baseball games

Even though the Dodgers and Cubs technically already started the regular season with this year’s Tokyo Series, Opening Day is finally here. All but two MLB teams are scheduled to be in action and begin a six-month quest to win the World Series.

After winning the 2024 World Series over the Yankees, the Dodgers hope to become the first team since New York to win back-to-back World Series. The Dodgers look like they only got better, as reigning NL MVP Shohei Ohtani is expected to get back on the mound at some point this season.

The Mets are dealing with early injuries, but don’t let that take away from the fact that they won the Juan Soto sweepstakes this offseason. Soto hit a home run in his first at-bat with New York in spring training and will officially wear the uniform for the first time in a game that counts.

The Athletics and the Rays are in for a strange season. The A’s are no longer in Oakland and will be playing at a minor league baseball park in Sacramento until the move to Las Vegas in three-ish years. The organization is not adopting the Sacramento or even California name but instead will simply be known as the Athletics.

The Rays are unable to play in their home stadium due to damage from Hurricane Milton last fall. Tampa Bay will instead play its home games at the Yankees‘ spring training facility.

The Dodgers head into Opening Day 2-0 thanks to an international two-game sweep of the Cubs in the Tokyo Series. Every other team in action will be playing in its first game as they begin the 2025 campaign.

How to watch MLB Opening Day 2025

  • National: ESPN
  • Live stream: Fubo, MLB TV

There will likely be at least one weather delay or postponement across the league, but for now, every team but the Rockies and Rays is scheduled to be in action on Thursday.

TV rights is a hotly debated topic across the MLB. Some teams have deals with regional affiliate stations, while others are part of the new FanDuel Sports Network. MLB Network will be running highlights and doing live game check-ins throughout the day, but they don’t have their own game scheduled in their programming until Friday.

ESPN will air the Brewers vs. Yankees at 3 p.m. ET and the Tigers vs. Dodgers at 7 p.m. ET.
