Saints defensive tackle Davon Godchaux reveals surprising new hobby off the field

New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Davon Godchaux has picked up a new hobby that helps give him peace when he’s off the field.

The Louisiana native started horseback riding in the last eight to ten months and now developed an obsession with horses and has purchased his own farm complete with 18 to 20 of his own horses.

“It’s therapeutic It’s good for my mental health. It’s good for a lot of peoples’ mental health,” Godchaux said in a press release shared by the Saints. “I’m just addicted. My mentor and his family always had horses when I was growing up, but I was never into it because I was always so busy in sports camps, AAU basketball, traveling a lot.”

“It’s one of the things I turn to when I’m on some down time and other than going and spending and splurging money on something else, I can enjoy my farm and take care of my horses and just relax,” the Saints veteran defensive tackle added.

After the LSU alum took up riding as a hobby, he started his own ranch on 20 acres in Grandview, Texas, about 30 miles south of Fort Worth. Godchaux Ranch currently has 30 stalls and an arena, but Godchaux says eventually he’d like to add some cattle and possibly a 50-year football field.

In March 2025, the New England Patriots traded Godchaux to the Saints for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.

Shortly after the trade, the NFL star’s wife, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Chanel Iman, shared a post on Instagram on April 3 showing off her family enjoying their new country lifestyle.

“This chapter of my life is called : Country living 🤠 🐴📍Texas 😍,” Inman captioned the post.

Inman shared another post on IG that same day showing off her own horseback riding skills inside of a beautiful, large arena.

“I have found a new hobby and I’m hooked 😍 This is new cowgirl era and I’m just getting started 🤟🏾TEXAS ❤️Thank you @chauxdown for giving me a life full of adventure,” she wrote in the caption.
