Two of the premier programs in the Texas 6A Division II bracket square off with a trip to the championship game at stake.
Southlake Carroll puts its undefeated season on the line against playoff-tested DeSoto in a University Interscholastic League 6A DII semifinal, which takes place Saturday afternoon in Mansfield.

The Dragons, who played in last season’s 6A DII title game, come in with a perfect 14-0 record. All 14 wins have come by double digits, with the closest margin of victory 18 points, when the Dragons prevailed 49-31 against Prosper two weeks ago in the regional semifinals.
Last week, SLC downed Denton Guyer, 51-19, in the regional finals.
As for DeSoto, the Eagles are itching to get back to Arlington after missing out last season, falling in the regional finals coming off of back-to-back state titles in 2022-23.
They started this season 0-2 before turning things around, reeling off wins in 11 of their next 12 games, with the only loss in that span coming to Duncanville, which is playing in the 6A Division I semifinals on Saturday.
Last week, DeSoto outlasted Willis, 60-41, in the regional final. The Eagles have scored at least 56 points in its four playoff wins so far.
Friday’s semifinal winner plays the winner of the other semifinal, between defending champion Austin Vandegrift and Houston Sheldon King, which is taking place Saturday night in Waco, at next week’s UIL State championship round in Arlington.
