Texas frustrated with questions about Arch Manning's health

The health of Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has been called in question since he looked like he was grimacing in pain in Saturday’s win over San Jose State.

The Longhorns are circling the wagons trying to protect either known or unknown with Manning’s condition but it’s clearly becoming frustrating for those in the program who’d rather focus on football than on Manning’s health according to CBS Sports Chris Hummer.

“I think it’s two things,” Hummer said on the CFB Insiders podcast. “Head coaches don’t like to give information about things like injuries because it’s an advantage — whether the injury exists or it doesn’t. And there’s just kind of frustration for those around the program that every little thing with Arch Manning is a story.”

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkansian was even getting frustrated with the media when he was asked about Manning’s condition.

“According to who? Arch said that to you? According to who,” Sarkisian told a reporter who said Manning “seemed to be having some throwing pains” during the game. He doesn’t have any (injury). I’ve never filmed any of you guys when you’re using the bathroom, so I don’t know what faces you make when you’re doing that.”

Fans and media alike are questioning Manning because of how he has performed the first few weeks of the college football season. While he improved against San Jose State, throwing three touchdown passes, he wasn’t impressive against Ohio State, leading some to wonder if there is something wrong with him.

Manning was supposed to be the best player in the country, but so far he hasn’t shown that, leading some to think that may he has an unknown injury that the Longhorns’ coaching staff doesn’t want to discuss publicly. One more performance like he had against the Buckeyes is only going to amplify the noise even more.
