Texas up 28-7 at halftime on 4 Arch Manning TD passes: Score, live updates of Longhorns' home opener

Texas has waited a week to get the taste of its season-opening defeat out of its mouth.

The Longhorns finally get that chance on Saturday morning, as they have their home opener at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium when they face San Jose State.

Texas (0-1), which was the preseason No. 1 in the Associated Press poll, fell 14-7 to defending national champion Ohio State in last week’s rematch of January’s College Football Playoff semifinal, also won by the Buckeyes. The Longhorns are now ranked No. 7.

Ohio State-Texas matchup was most-watched Week 1 CFB game ever

It was also a rough opener for the much-ballyhooed redshirt sophomore Arch Manning, in his first season as the Horns’ starting quarterback.

Manning was held to 17-of-30 passing for 170 yards and one touchdown, which came in the game’s final minutes. The Horns had a chance to tie the score late, but turned it over on downs.

San Jose State (0-1) is also seeking to shake off a tough season-opening loss, as the Spartans fell at home to Central Michigan, 16-14.
