This season is going to be very different for Bronny James, as he is finally on his own for the first time in his NBA career. His first two seasons, he was with his dad, LeBron James, which made plenty of NBA history.
Now, he will get to be his own player, building his own story throughout his career. For James, he is excited to be on his own.
“It’s something different for sure. I’m excited for the experience. Experience something different with him not being here and to see how the staff treats me without him being here,” James said.
The jump from last season to everything that has been put together this summer by James looks like he has improved significantly. This season is set to be an exciting one for James, as he has finally really honed in on what JJ Redick has wanted him to do. For the third-year player, it is about making a name for himself.
“You guys know me as Bronny. My real name is LeBron. I’ve been doing this for however long, so I think it’s a motivating factor for me just getting up every day and trying to prove myself as Bronny instead of LeBron,” he said.
However, with training camp gaining some real steam, it has been reported that James has trade interest around the league.
“But don’t rule outa Bronny James trade, not because the Lakers are seeking to sump him but because he could bring in draft assets–even a second rounder or two, which is what James would bring. Again, we’re not talking first-round picks, and dumping Knecht is still probably the Lakers’ path. But Bronny James being traded because of his own ability and not because of his dad would be a great story,” HoopsHype wrote.
This is something to monitor for sure, as the Lakers could very well turn his potential into draft capital, which they have barely any of at all. James would be a great investment for several teams, especially as a bench player.
The young gun has logged some important minutes in his career, including in the playoffs last season against the Houston Rockets. This will be something to monitor throughout training camp and the season as well. James is starting to have some serious respect on his name.
